Self image is described as how you see yourself—physically, or your opinion of who or what you are. It also includes how much you like yourself or think others like you.
This is vital for people because how they see themselves affects their behavior, their thinking and how they relate to others. People respond to you either positively or negatively according to how confident you are. A person’s view of themselves is shaped by their unique thoughts and beliefs. Many have a negative view of themselves and are highly critical of themselves.
It is especially for this last group that Dr. McIntosh writes this book. Never has there been a greater need for individuals to look at their self-talk and to see what type of messages they are giving themselves daily, even hourly. For its results not only affect the individual, but their families, those they work with or are in relationship with, and our society as whole and what we are facing today as individuals and families.
