1. What is the purpose of The Peace Rug?
The Peace Rug helps to teach children a different way to resolve most conflicts and to communicate more effectively so that they can be better friends.
2. Who can use The Peace Rug?
The Peace Rug was originally invented for children from toddlers to pre-teens but anyone who wants better relationships can use it.
3. What problems can The Peace Rug help solve?
Children learn to communicate when hurt feelings, anger, abuse, and sometimes violence occur. They learn to resolve conflicts when they happen rather than stuffing their feelings. Most especially, they learn to "find their voice" when someone is doing or saying something to them that hurts or makes them angry.
4. Is it hard to learn the instructions?
No. The Instructions are very easy and only take 15 minutes to learn. There is language for both small and older children. The role plays help children learn The Peace Rug Process and you may need to remind them of the script for a few weeks. After that, they can use it on their own. Audio instructions are in both English and Spanish. Role-play suggestions come with the Complete Peace Rug Kit. Once learned, it usually takes children only 2-3 minutes to work through a problem without a teacher or parent's intervention.
5. Is The Peace Rug just for the schoolroom?
No. The curriculum is easily adapted for use in the home.
6. Where else can The Peace Rug be used?
The Peace Rug can be used on playgrounds, in daycare centers, in kindergartens, youth clubs, recreational centers - anywhere there are kids.
7. Does The Peace Rug take the place of counseling?
No, The Peace Rug is not meant to take the place of counseling. The Peace Rug is not meant to be used with anyone who is extremely angry or hostile nor with anyone who is under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other substances. If the “victim” ever feels threatened physically, mentally or emotionally, they should get away from the other person.
8. What's in the kit?
The complete Peace Rug Curriculum includes a specially designed 39” x 56” rug and an instructional book with lesson plans and role plays. Each lesson plan is one half-hour and is designed for grades pre-K through 5th.
9. Is quantity pricing available for bulk purchases?

10. I have a small child. Is it too big for my child to handle?
The Peace Rug is not too large for most children to handle since it is pliable and flexible and measures roughly 3' x 5'. It can be rolled up when not in use or left out, as you wish. Very small children may require some assistance.
11. What if I am unable to sit on The Peace Rug?
If a child is unable or unwilling to sit on The Peace Rug, he may sit in a chair or stand on or around The Peace Rug - whatever is appropriate and comfortable for the situation.
12. What does The Peace Rug look like?
The Peace Rug is an actual rug which measures 39" x 56", made of 100% nylon, printed with a cloud design, and bound in blue tape. The actual rug may not appear in accurate colors on your monitor.
13. How do I clean The Peace Rug?
Regular vacuuming helps rugs retain their beauty and extends the life of the rug. Clean spills immediately: blot with a clean cloth; spot clean with a solution of clear dishwashing detergent (non-bleach) and water. Rinse with water and blot dry. Professional cleaning is recommended using the hot water extraction method. Do Not Dry Clean. Do Not Bleach.
14. What about fire safety?
This product is in compliance with the requirements set forth in 16 CFR part 1631 - Standard for the Surface Flammability of Small Carpets and Rugs (FF2-70), commonly known as the "pill test".
