The Peace Rug is intended for children from toddlers to pre-teens. It can be used anytime
conflicts, hurt feelings, disappointment, irritations, frustrations, disrespect or anger occur.
When used at the time bad feelings begin, children have special way to express
themselves to resolve the issues immediately rather than continuing to get angry
and out of control. Children cannot concentrate on schoolwork as long as a conflict
with a classmate exists.
How does it work?
In short, everyone learns the script...like learning lines for a play.
- There is an invitation given to the one you have the conflict with.
- You say the words.
- They say the words.
- You reach an agreement in 2-3 minutes and are okay with each other.
- Then you celebrate that agreement.
The Peace Rug is not meant to be a substitute for counseling but is very effective in helping children relate better with one another.
